The non-profit organization Village Urbain officially opened a unique pavilion in Laval dedicated to promoting intergenerational cohabitation.

Supported by the City of Laval and the CMHC, this innovative project showcases a modular and inclusive housing model designed to address the challenges of aging, social isolation, and the housing crisis.

The non-profit organization Village Urbain recently officially inaugurated its Intergenerational Cohabitat Pavilion, an exhibition and awareness space located in the heart of Laval.

This pavilion, developed in collaboration with Sid Lee Architecture, features a life-size prototype of a modular apartment, designed to adapt to the needs of various household types: families, seniors, students, and newcomers.

The goal is clear: to demonstrate that collective housing can be human-centered, sustainable, and accessible.

A Meaningful Project

In response to pressing social issues—an aging population, growing isolation, and a housing crisis—Village Urbain offers a concrete and inspiring solution.

The pavilion serves as a living lab, where citizens, policymakers, and developers can explore, experience, and discuss new forms of housing.

Strong Institutional Support

The project is financially supported by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) through its Housing for the Future program.

The City of Laval provided the land on which the pavilion was built, demonstrating its commitment to innovative and inclusive housing solutions.

A Participatory Program

The pavilion will be open to the public year-round, offering a rich program of guided tours, workshops, lectures, and public consultations.

A Call to Action

Village Urbain invites everyone interested in the future of housing to discover this unique space.

Whether you are a citizen, housing professional, elected official, or simply curious, the pavilion welcomes you to help imagine more supportive, human, and sustainable living environments.
