Following our initial coverage in May 2025, the City of Beaconsfield is launching the community phase of its campaign for the future Cultural Centre.

Located in the heart of Centennial Park, this internationally award-winning sustainable building has already raised $1.8 million toward its $2 million goal.

Supported by 12 local associations and roughly 40 ambassadors, this project aims to foster intergenerational exchanges and community integration

Project Overview and Architectural Vision

The Beaconsfield multifunctional cultural centre project, located in the heart of Centennial Park, is emerging as a model of sustainable architecture and community integration.

This landmark building prioritizes harmony with nature through the use of wood, green roofs, and a design that maximizes natural light.

Already recognized with an international award of excellence for its visionary design, this infrastructure aims to enrich civic life while protecting the shores of Lake Saint-Louis.

Planned Facilities and Social Impact

Planned facilities include a modern library, exhibition spaces, and a digital fabrication lab to foster intergenerational exchanges.

This initiative embodies the city's commitment to social inclusion and the preservation of its natural heritage.

According to the Friends of the Beaconsfield Library board of directors, the library has always been at the heart of bringing people together around knowledge, reading, and culture. The Cultural Centre extends this vision.

Allocated Budgets and Funding Progress

To date, the campaign has raised $1.8 million toward a total goal of $2 million.

The Friends of the Beaconsfield Library have already announced a $50,000 donation to the campaign, stating they are proud to contribute and encourage other organizations to do the same.

The City hopes to complete the funding through activities organized by various associations.

Thanks to the commitment of visionary donors and the growing support of organizations and residents, the campaign is nearing its final goal.

Civic Engagement and Participation Statistics

This new step marks the kickoff of the Étincelle (Spark) events, initiatives led by local associations and residents aimed at helping to finance the project and build connections within the community.

Twelve cultural and community associations have already committed to organizing an event.

The community phase also relies on a network of roughly forty community ambassadors, whose role is to promote the project and rally residents around the future Cultural Centre.

Beyond the philanthropic campaign already underway, the Étincelle events—which will take the form of book sales, exhibitions, picnics, and other initiatives—aim to create the connections and energy that will bring the Centre to life.

Furthermore, the campaign offers various ways to leave a lasting mark on the project, notably through the Community Wall, which will allow donors to be a part of the Centre's history.

Those wishing to learn more about the Beaconsfield Cultural Centre Campaign and the Étincelle events are invited to consult the resources available on the City's website.
