Boulevard Saint-Laurent comes alive once again for the 13th edition of the MURAL Festival.
A vibrant program brings together local and international muralists, live performances,
immersive exhibitions, and artistic competitions that will boldly and creatively reshape the
Main.
The beating heart of Montréal, Boulevard Saint-Laurent, becomes a living canvas for the 13th edition of the MURAL Festival.
Once again this year, an impressive lineup of muralists will take over the city’s walls, blending local and international talent to offer a one-of-a-kind artistic experience.
Among the local artists to watch: Franco Réalité, Kezna Dalz, LaCharbonne, Katie Green, Whatisadam, and the duo Zek & Margotella.
They’ll be painting alongside creators from Brazil, Germany, and China, including Belin, Hera, HOXXOH, Zéh Palito, Satr, Sebastián Ayala, and TEO.
Highlights not to miss:
• June 14: A live creation by Dom Laporte and High Klassified, blending visual art and music.
• June 10–15: The immersive exhibition 10 Years of MURAL at the WIP, featuring a virtual reality experience retracing a decade of urban creativity.
• June 10–11: The live painting tournament Secret Walls, where artists will battle it out with brushes in a high-energy showdown.
• And of course, the legendary block parties, true celebrations of urban culture.
Whether you're a street art enthusiast, a culture lover, or simply curious, MURAL 2025 promises a full immersion into the world of contemporary muralism.
Iconic Murals Across Greater Montréal, a real open-air museum
The non-profit organization MU is behind many of Montréal’s most iconic murals.
Notable examples include:
• Le Damier 2023 – Tribute to Françoise Sullivan, the city’s largest mural, located on the façade of the Hyatt Place Montréal Downtown.
It comes alive at night with light projections by Elizabeth Laferrière and Sébastien Samyn
The Leonard Cohen Mural, painted by Gene Pendon and El Mac, now a downtown landmark
Three Neighborhoods Rich in Street Art
Several areas stand out for their density and quality of murals:
• Le Plateau-Mont-Royal: actively supports mural creation through its Muralité program.
• Mile End and Boulevard Saint-Laurent: open-air galleries, especially during the MURAL Festival.
• Petite-Bourgogne and Sainte-Marie: home to socially engaged and community driven artworks
Other Festivals and City Initiatives
• Under Pressure Festival (since 1996): North America’s oldest graffiti festival, centered in the Quartier des spectacles
City of Montréal’s Mural Art Program: funds five permanent murals each year since 2015
