In a world first, BIXI Montréal is launching a groundbreaking project:

A hub of universal bike trailers, now available to users.

Assembled in Saint-Laurent, these trailers can be attached to both BIXI bikes and personal bicycles

This initiative aims to make it easier to transport loads and to strengthen sustainable mobility in the city.

Unveiled at Père-Marquette Park in the Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie borough, this project marks a new milestone in the evolution of the bike-sharing service.

The trailers, designed to attach to both BIXI and personal bikes, offer a practical solution for transporting groceries, sports equipment, or even professional gear.

Each unit is equipped with an integrated lock for secure stops.

Starting this week, ten trailers will be available across the network, with a goal of 50 units by the end of the summer.

BIXI hopes to deploy several hundred by 2028.

The service is accessible via the BIXI app, with a rate of $8 for a one-way trip of less than four hours ($4 for subscribers), then $0.20 per minute beyond that.

“We want people to think of it spontaneously—whether it’s for groceries, carrying soccer gear after a game, or bringing audiovisual equipment to a client,”explains Pierre-Luc Marier, Marketing Director at BIXI.

With this innovation, Montreal strengthens its position as a leader in active transportation and sustainable urban solutions.
