The Lac-à-la-Loutre Park, located in the Sud-Ouest borough of Montreal, has recently been equipped with accessible and inclusive play structures.

Designed to meet the needs of children with reduced mobility, this new development represents a concrete step toward a truly universal playground.

In Saint-Henri, Lac-à-la-Loutre Park has become a symbol of inclusion thanks to the addition of play modules accessible to all children, regardless of their mobility level.

Located on de Courcelles Street, the park now features installations designed to promote autonomy, safety, and shared enjoyment.

Among the new features is a ground-level merry-go-round that allows children to sit comfortably, as well as wheelchair-accessible structures.

These facilities were chosen to provide an equitable play experience, where every child can play, explore, and interact in their own way.

This project, unofficially named “A Park for Zoé,” pays tribute to a young resident of the neighborhood and her family, who advocated for more inclusive play spaces.

Their commitment helped raise awareness among the community and decision-makers about the importance of designing public spaces that accommodate diverse needs.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Sud-Ouest borough to make its infrastructure more accessible, while fostering social inclusion from an early age.

Lac-à-la-Loutre Park thus becomes an inspiring model for other neighborhoods in Montreal and beyond.
