The Parent Participation Organization (PPO) of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Elementary School, in collaboration with the arts organization MU, has launched a fundraising campaign to create a colorful and meaningful mural facing the schoolyard.
This project aims to strengthen students’ sense of belonging, beautify the neighborhood, and promote public art in Verdun.

Verdun is buzzing with creative energy.
This year, a unifying artistic project is taking shape: the creation of a mural on the wall facing the schoolyard of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Elementary School, located on 5th Avenue.
Led by the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes PPO in partnership with the organization MU, the project seeks to transform a plain concrete wall into an inspiring and inclusive work of art.
The mural will be co-designed with students, teachers, and MU artists—renowned for their murals across Montreal. It will reflect the school’s core values: diversity, inclusion, respect, and local pride.
The goal is to create a stimulating environment for children while enhancing the urban landscape.
To bring this project to life, a fundraising campaign is currently active on the platform La Ruche Québec.
The goal is to raise $5,500 to cover design, production, and material costs.
So far, over 50% of the target has already been raised thanks to the generosity of citizens and local partners.
Donors will receive personalized thank-you notes and be invited to the mural’s unveiling, scheduled for fall 2025.
