The City of Longueuil, in collaboration with Canada Lands Company (CLC), has announced an ambitious project to add 1,000 additional homes to the future riverfront neighborhood.

This development, located between the Jacques Cartier Bridge and the Longueuil Yacht Club, promises to transform the area into an exemplary residential space with modern amenities and breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and Montreal

An Exemplary and Inclusive Neighborhood

Determined to restore access to the riverbanks and stem the housing crisis facing Longueuil, Mayor Catherine Fournier, in partnership with the Canada Lands Company, recently unveiled the updated vision for the development of the Longueuil-Rive sector (also known as Pointe de Longueuil).

This new neighborhood, located near the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke metro station, between the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and the Longueuil Yacht Club, will cover an area of 2.5 million square feet (232,260 square meters), the equivalent of 43 football fields.

Residents and walkers will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the seaway and Montreal, with the rides of La Ronde in the foreground.

Modern and Sustainable Infrastructure

The project includes high-rise towers, smaller buildings, and an abundance of greenery, including a public promenade along the river.

The Mayor of Longueuil insisted that an elementary school be an integral part of this development to meet the educational needs of families in the area.

This school will be built on a high-rise building, a model inspired by European countries, to accommodate the density of the neighborhood.

A Positive Impact on the Community

This project aims not only to address Longueuil's housing crisis, but also to restore access to the riverfront for residents.

By increasing the number of housing units, the City hopes to attract more local businesses, creating a dynamic and lively neighborhood.

We look forward to seeing this project come to fruition.

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of the work and housing opportunities.
