The City of Longueuil has recently released its Interculturalism Policy, a strategic framework aimed at fostering inclusion, civic participation, and social cohesion in the context of growing cultural diversity.
This policy reflects the city’s strong commitment to recognizing the richness of diversity while strengthening harmonious coexistence.
In a constantly evolving world, cities are called upon to play a leading role in promoting inclusion and respect for differences.
It is in this spirit that Longueuil has adopted its Interculturalism Policy—a foundational document that outlines a clear vision and concrete commitments to building a united and equitable community.
This policy is based on four key principles:
Recognizing diversity as a collective asset
Ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens
Encouraging active participation from all segments of society
Promoting intercultural dialogue as a driver of social cohesion
Among the planned actions are the enhancement of municipal services to better meet the needs of immigrant populations, training municipal staff in intercultural competence, and establishing inclusive consultation mechanisms.
With this policy, the City of Longueuil reaffirms its commitment to creating an environment where everyone—regardless of origin—can thrive and contribute to community life.
It is a call to action for all stakeholders—residents, organizations, and institutions—to help make Longueuil a truly open, fair, and united city.
