The administration of the city of Montreal recently announced an ambitious project aimed at creating a green screen around the Ray-Mont Logistiques transshipment site.
This project, which represents an investment of nearly 90 million dollars, aims to reduce industrial nuisances and improve the quality of life for nearby residents.
The main objective of this project is to create a "green shield" around the Ray-Mont Logistiques site.
This includes the planting of trees, the addition of urban developments, and the acquisition of nearby land to reduce the impact of noise and dust on the residents.
Furthermore, the project plans to create a reserved lane and a protected bike lane on Hochelaga Street, as well as the development of the Longue-Pointe linear park.
Investments and Financing
To finance this project, the Plante administration announced a borrowing regulation of 88 million dollars.
This money will also be used for the decontamination of lands acquired by the city of Montreal.
In recent months, the city has already purchased several lots, notably from Canadian National (CN) for 17 million dollars, a part of the Steinberg woods from Hydro-Québec for 27 million dollars, and a last lot for 15 million dollars.
Other acquisitions are planned in the coming months.
Impact on the Local Community
The green screen project around Ray-Mont Logistiques aims to improve the quality of life for residents by reducing industrial nuisances.
The creation of new green spaces and urban developments will contribute to increasing the greening of the area, thus providing relaxation and recreational spaces for residents.
Furthermore, the securing of the routes around the site, such as Viau and Cadillac streets, is planned to reduce the impacts of trucking.
Environmental Impact
In addition to its social benefits, the green screen project will have a positive impact on the environment.
The planting of trees and the creation of new green spaces will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and the promotion of sustainable development.
The decontamination of lands acquired by the city will also restore polluted areas and make them usable for recreational and community activities.
The green screen project around Ray-Mont Logistiques is a major initiative of the City of Montreal's administration to improve the quality of life for residents and promote sustainable development.
Thanks to significant investment and careful planning, this project promises to transform the sector into a greener and more pleasant space for everyone.
