The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs recently announced an investment of $15 million to relocate the thirteen charitable organizations located at the Ahuntsic Community Center.

The site has been threatened with eviction by the Montreal School Service Center for several months.

The new community center will be relocated to the Louvain Eco-district, a new residential neighborhood that is set to emerge in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, which plans to build around 1000 housing units, including cooperatives.

An eco-district is a residential neighborhood designed with a sustainable development perspective or a set of buildings whose design aims to be more sustainable than regular constructions.

The timing is really good. At the moment when community organizations were being displaced, we thought that we were the solution to relocate them, said France Émond, the general director of the Louvain Eco-district development company.
