New roller track at L'Île-des-Soeurs

In 2025, the borough of Verdun plans to develop a roller track (pumptrack) at Adrien-D.-Archambault Park, located in L'Île-des-Soeurs.

This project aims to transform a wasteland into a sports and recreation facility accessible to everyone.


The construction project of the roller rink in Île-des-Soeurs is an ambitious initiative that promises to energize the neighborhood and offer residents a new recreational opportunity.


Scheduled for 2025, this project will be located in Adrien-D.-Archambault Park, on a plot of vacant land near Boulevard de la Forêt.


The project cost is estimated at $1.8 million. This amount includes approximately $419,000 for civil engineering work and site decontamination due to the fill.Have fun.


Project Features:


  • Three interconnected paths: The roller track will include three paths for practicing various wheeled sports such as scooter riding, inline skating, skateboarding, cycling, and even adapted wheelchair use.

  • Accessibility: The project includes facilities accessible to people with reduced mobility, a multifunctional welcome area, inclusive urban furniture, a relaxation area, a drinking fountain, and an accessible trail.

  • Lighting: A push-button activated lighting system will be installed to ensure the safety and comfort of users.

  • Environmental Respect: The roller track project will seamlessly integrate into its environment while preserving and actively promoting local biodiversity.

  • Existing trees will be preserved, and naturalized areas will be developed around the track. Additionally, 45 native trees will be added, along with several native plants.

  • Hibernacula will be created for brown snakes, and drainage of runoff water will be planned for the site to encourage the recharge of the groundwater, the stream, and Lake des Battures.


Project timeline:


November 26, 2024: Information and discussion session on interventions in the woods of Domaine Saint-Paul and its surroundings.


January 16 to February 7, 2025: Online survey to understand the needs, priorities, and ideas of the community regarding the development of the roller path in Adrien-D.-Archambault Park.


This project represents a significant advancement for the L’Île-des-Soeurs neighborhood, providing residents with a new sports and recreation facility while respecting the environment and promoting local biodiversity.
