May 12, 2025, marks the arrival of Leo, a new carsharing service in Montreal.

This service, developed through a Franco-Quebec collaboration between Vulog and the MHT Group, offers a flexible and 100% digital mobility solution.

With a fleet of 600 vehicles, including Honda Civics and Mitsubishi RVRs, Leo aims to provide a streamlined and fast user experience.

One of Leo's main advantages is its speedy registration process.

Users can register for free via the Leo app, and their application is approved in less than 24 hours.

This speed contrasts sharply with Communauto's four-business-day turnaround time, which can extend to six or seven days including weekends.

Leo serves a vast area from Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve to Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Ville-Émard, all the way north to the Metropolitan Autoroute.

This extensive coverage allows users to benefit from great flexibility in their daily commute.

Cleanliness and Simplicity

Leo's vehicles are all brand new

Furthermore, the Leo app asks users to rate the exterior condition and interior cleanliness of the vehicles, allowing for rapid intervention if needed .

Competition in the Montreal Carsharing Market

Since the disappearance of Car2Go's Smart cars, Communauto had no direct competition in Montreal until the arrival of Leo.

Communauto, with its 2,300 self-service and station-based vehicles, remains a major player in the market.

This company offers a diverse fleet of vehicles in Montreal, including 100% electric models, such as the Kia Niro and Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

Carsharing Market Statistics and Trends

In Montreal, carsharing continues to grow, driven by technological advances and increased demand for sustainable mobility solutions
