Montreal transfers a lot for the construction of a community space in Saint-Michel.

The City of Montreal commits to transferring a plot of land measuring 1,565 square meters located on Saint-Michel Boulevard to the Saint-Michel Social Innovation District (SMQIS) organization.
The organization aims to build a three-story building on this lot that will bring together community organizations under one roof.
The Saint-Michel Community House will also include a shared kitchen and a multifunctional room.A construction start is desired in the fall of 2026 for delivery in 2027.
The estimated cost of the project, involving Bâtir son Quartier and the architectural firm FABG, is $25 million.
During an extraordinary council meeting, the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension unanimously approved a bilateral promise project whereby the City of Montreal commits to transferring, without financial compensation, to the organization Saint-Michel, neighborhood of social innovation (SMQIS), a piece of land located on Boulevard Saint-Michel.
The organization aims to build a community building on this lot. The transfer amounts to a grant of approximately 2.19 million dollars from the City and the Borough.
The construction of a future community house, bringing together organizations from the area under one roof, is planned on this land in the coming years.
