In an update of its metropolitan survey Mobility Perspectives, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (ARTM) states that 4.1% of workers used a bicycle to get to work at the time of the survey in 2023, compared to 2.1% five years earlier.

The increase is particularly strong in downtown Montreal, where 11% of trips were made by bike, compared to 6% in 2018.

Here are the impressive results from the latest Mobility Perspectives survey conducted by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (ARTM). The data reveals a marked trend towards increased use of bicycles as a daily mode of transport in Greater Montreal.

Between 2018 and 2023, the percentage of workers using bicycles to commute to work doubled, rising from 2.1% to 4.1%.

Downtown Montreal stands out particularly with a spectacular rise: 11% of trips are now made by bicycle, compared to 6% in 2018.

This progress can be attributed to several factors, including improvements in cycling infrastructure, increased awareness of the health and environmental benefits of cycling, as well as local initiatives aimed at encouraging bicycle use.
