The renovation of Grovehill Park is progressing.

Located in the heart of the community, this park is a prime location for outdoor activities and recreation.

To meet the growing needs of residents and improve the quality of life in our borough, modernization work has been undertaken.

Planned improvements include:

• Volleyball and basketball courts: These courts will be completely renovated to provide modern and safe playing surfaces. The work includes equipment upgrades and infrastructure improvements to ensure an optimal user experience.

• Skateboarding area: The skateboarding area will be transformed to accommodate skateboarding, inline skating, BMX, and scooter enthusiasts. The new facilities will offer challenges suitable for all skill levels.

• Green spaces and landscaping: In addition to the sports facilities, the park will benefit from landscaping to create welcoming green spaces conducive to relaxation. The planting of trees and the addition of street furniture will help beautify the park and provide shaded areas for picnics and family gatherings.

Construction began in August 2024 and, after a necessary winter break, will continue until summer 2025.

During this period, certain sections of the park will be temporarily closed to allow for safe completion of the work.

"Following a focus group with Lachine skate enthusiasts, we enhanced the initial project by expanding the skate park, making it more complex and interesting," explained Lachine Mayor Maja Vodanovic during a recent Borough Council meeting.

These improvements will make Grovehill Park an even more attractive and functional space for all Lachine residents.
