Established in July 2023, the program for free public transport for senior residents of Montreal aged 65 and over is available for the entire A tariff area.

The reduced fare for those 65 and older is offered to non-residents of the Montreal agglomeration.

If you are a customer of Accessible Transport aged 65 and over: you are automatically eligible for the reduced fare.

The mention "TA STM RÉDUIT" is inscribed on your Accessible Transport identity card on OPUS.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) reports that during the first year of the program, from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, about 185,000 senior customers obtained the pass that grants them free access to buses and the metro, which represents more than half of the senior population in Montreal, at 51%.

During this period, the STM observed an increase of 20 to 25% in trips made by this clientele across the Island of Montreal, resulting in 21.8 million trips, of which 73% occurred off-peak or on weekends.

There are also programs for children, and specifically, for adapted persons. Here is the link.
