Natyf TV, a new Quebec television channel, is turning towards the Francophone African audience after winning over the ethnocultural communities of Quebec.
With a diverse programming that includes local and African shows, Natyf TV aims to establish strong partnerships in West Africa to enrich its content and expand its audience

Natyf TV, a new Quebec television channel stands out for its ambition to captivate the Francophone African audience.

Founded by Jean-Yves Roux, Natyf TV started modestly with offices located in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood in Montreal.

Today, the channel is experiencing rapid growth and is opening up to new horizons.

Rapid Expansion

Since obtaining its license from the CRTC about 20 months ago, Natyf TV has grown from 100,000 to 2.3 million subscribers.

Initially intended for the ethnocultural communities of Quebec, the channel is now beginning to focus on the millions of Francophone viewers in West Africa.

Jean-Yves Roux, president and founder of Natyf TV, has made several trips to Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal to establish partnerships and integrate African shows into the channel's programming.

Diverse Programming

Natyf TV's schedule now includes local productions as well as shows from Cameroon, Senegal, and Angola.

Among the flagship shows is the series "Kigah, la reine du mal," produced by Cameroonians, which has captivated the Quebec audience.

This diversity of content allows Natyf TV to meet the entertainment needs of African diasporas living in Quebec while offering a window into African culture for Quebec viewers.

Strategic Partnerships

Jean-Yves Roux plans to return to West Africa in June to strengthen business ties and possibly bring back new African shows for the Quebec audience.

Unlike some Europeans who attempt the experience, Roux, of Haitian origin, is well received by the West African entertainment industry, without a colonial past behind him.

This partnership approach is seen as an opportunity for African producers to export their content to North America.

A Promising Future

Natyf TV dreams of becoming part of the viewing habits of the Francophone African audience.

While major streaming platforms like Netflix are already well established in Anglophone countries, there are few offerings for the tens of millions of Francophone Africans.

By studying the consumption habits of this audience, Natyf TV hopes to fill this gap and become a reference in Francophone entertainment in Africa.
