A new beacon is lighting up Montreal's cultural landscape: the international festival "La Mèche Courte" is launching its inaugural edition, running from November 7th to 16th, 2025.
Dedicated exclusively to live arts for young audiences (ages 2 to 17 and their families), this ambitious event's mission is to place youth at the centre of artistic action.
It is a vibrant celebration of creativity that aims to ignite the imagination of young people through theatre, dance, and surprising artistic forms, coming from both local and international creators.
This is in addition to The Arab World Festival (FMA), CINEMANIA and MTLàTABLE, three events that we already covered. .
Ten Days of Festivities and Artistic Awakening
For ten days, "La Mèche Courte" will take over several emblematic cultural venues across the city (including Maison Théâtre, L'Illusion, Théâtre Aux Écuries, and Tangente, making Montreal resonate with the colours of childhood.
This festival is much more than a series of performances.
It carries a strong vision: to view young people as active forces in society.
By focusing on the energy and empowering nature of the live arts, the festival intends to spark curiosity and foster the artistic awakening of younger generations.
Fun workshops and meet-and-greets are also planned, allowing children and teenagers to engage with creators and learn about different disciplines.
