The summer event “Come Read Outside” is back for a second edition in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (MHM).

Until August 30, families are invited to take part in over 50 free book-related activities across 14 parks in the borough.

The program includes the Bibliomobile, storytime sessions, story trails, and festive celebrations.

Summer 2025 promises to be rich in literary discoveries for the residents of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

Following last year’s success, the “Come Read Outside” project returns with an expanded and even more welcoming program.

From June 25 to August 30, the borough’s libraries will step outside their walls and into the parks.

On the agenda:

  • Storytime sessions in eight parks, every morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., to delight young readers.

  • Bibliomobile in 11 parks, allowing visitors to borrow books, sign up for a library card, and enjoy fun activities.

  • Story trails displayed on panels, featuring two children’s books presented page by page: On y va! haw êkwa by Julie Flett at Hochelaga Park, and Partir de loin by Caroline Dawson and Maurèen Poignonec at Pierre-Bédard Park.

  • Opening and closing celebrations: June 25 at Théodore Park and August 30 at Rougemont Park, to celebrate the magic of books together.

As borough mayor Pierre Lessard-Blais emphasized, “Reading is a gateway to culture, the arts, and sports. The Bibliomobile is a fun way to spark interest in reading for all ages.”

From June 26 to August 30, MHM residents can sign up for their local library, borrow books from a special collection, and enjoy games and activities led by a dynamic team.

Join us in the following 11 parks:
